A melon - Melons
Another summery fruit is the melon. The word “melon” comes to us from Greek, though its origins trace back to India.
פְּרִי קֵיְּצִי נוֹסָף הוּא הַמֵּלוֹן.
הַמִּילָּה מֵלוֹן בָּאָה אֵלֵינוּ מִן הַיְּוָנִית אֲבָל מוֹצָאוֹ מֵהוֹדּוּ.
A melon has a hard but not very thick rind, and lots and lots of seeds. Melons come in many shapes: elongated, round, or flat.
לַמֵּלוֹן יֵשׁ קְלִיפָּה קָשָׁה, אֲבָל לֹא כָּל כָּךְ עָבָה, וְיֵשׁ לוֹ הַרְבֵּה הַרְבֵּה גַּרְעִינִים.
יֵשׁ הַרְבֵּה צוּרוֹת שׁוֹנוֹת לַמֵּלוֹן: מוּאֲרָכִים, מְעוּגָּלִים וּפְחוּסִים.
If you want to cut a melon in an aesthetically pleasing and fun way, use a Parisian scoop and carve it into round balls.
אִם אַתֶּם רוֹצִים לַחֲתּוֹךְ אֵת הַמֵּלוֹן בְּצוּרָה אַסְּטֶטִית וּמְעַנְיֶנֶת, הִשְׁתַּמְּשׁוּ בְּכַף פַּרִיזְיֶאן וְחִתְכוּ אוֹתוֹ בְּצוּרַת עִיגּוּלִים.
Don't confuse the word “melon” (the fruit) with “malon” (מלון) in Hebrew — “malon” means hotel, and has nothing to do with the fruit.
אַל תִּתְבַּלְבְּלוּ עִם הַמִּילָּה מָלוֹן MALON. MALONזֶה Hotel וְאֵין לוֹ קֶשֶׁר לַפְּרִי מֵלוֹן.
