Carrot

Carrots are root vegetables known for their bright orange color. Carrots are one of the most popular and loved vegetables in the world and are used in a wide variety of dishes and recipes.

גֶּזֶר הוּא יֶרֶק שׁוֹרֶשׁ יָדוּעַ בְּצִבְעוֹ הַכָּתוֹם הַבָּהִיר. הַגֶּזֶר הוּא אֶחָד הַיְּרָקוֹת הַנְּפוֹצִים וְהָאֲהוּבִים בְּיוֹתֵר בְּרַחֲבֵי הָעוֹלָם, וְהוּא מְשַׁמֵּשׁ בְּמִגְוָן רָחָב שֶׁל מִטְבָּחִים וּמַתְכּוֹנִים.

The orange carrot we know today was developed in Holland in the 17th century and became a symbol of wealth and health.

הַגֶּזֶר הַכָּתוֹם הַמּוּכָּר לָנוּ הַיּוֹם הִתְפַּתֵּחַ בְּהוֹלַנְד בַּמֵּאָה הַ-17, וְהָפַךְ לְסֵמֶל שֶׁל עוֹשֶׁר וּבְרִיאוּת.

When I was little, my mother told me to eat lots of carrots because they were good for my eyes. This is true, because carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is a powerful antioxidant that is particularly beneficial for eye health.

Carrots can be eaten in a variety of ways: fresh, boiled, roasted or fried, and they are also used as an excellent addition to salads, soups, stews, casseroles, and pastries.
