To put on shoes
We use the verb 'לִנְעוֹל' when we talk about shoes of all kinds:boots, sandals, slippers....
אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בְּשֵׁם הַפֹּעַל לִנְעוֹל כַּאֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ מְדַבְּרִים עַל נַעֲלַיִם מִכָּל מִינֵי סוּגִים,: מַגָּפַיִם, סַנְדָּלִים, נַעֲלֵי בַּיִת....
So, we can wear sports shoes and go for a run, and we can also wear slippers if we're at home. It is possible to wear boots in winter and sandals in summer.
אָז אֶפְשָׁר לִנְעוֹל נַעֲלֵי סְפּוֹרְט וְלָצֵאת לְרִיצָה, אֶפְשָׁר גַּם לִנְעוֹל נַעֲלֵי בַּיִת אִם אֲנַחְנוּ בַּבַּית. אֶפְשָׁר לִנְעוֹל מַגָּפַיִם בַּחוֹרֶף וְלִנְעוֹל סַנְדָּלִים בַּקַּיִץ.
But it is also possible to lock the door.
Please note – the verb 'לִנְעוֹל' is used in two completely different fileds.
אֲבָל אֶפְשָׁר גַּם לִנְעוֹל אֶת הַדֶּלֶת.
שִׂימוּ לֵב – שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל לִנְעוֹל מְשַׁמֵּשׁ לָנוּ בִּשְׁנֵי עוֹלָמוֹת שׁוֹנִים לְגַמְרֵי.
When we say to lock the door, it means that we are closing it with a lock, and it is impossible to open it.
כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ אוֹמְרִים לִנְעוֹל אֶת הַדֶּלֶת פֵּירוּשׁוֹ שֶׁל דָּבָר שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ סוֹגְרִים אוֹתָהּ עִם מַנְעוּל וְאִי אֶפְשָׁר לִפְתּוֹחַ אוֹתָהּ.
Here are some sentences with the verb 'לִנְעוֹל' at different tenses and in different pronouns:
הִנֵּה כַּמָּה מִשְׁפָּטִים עִם הַפֹּעַל לִנְעוֹל בִּזְמַנִּים שׁוֹנִים וּבְגוּפִים שׁוֹנִים:
1. In the winter I wear boots, in summer I wear sandals, and at home I wear slippers.
1. בַּחוֹרֶף אֲנִי נוֹעֶלֶת מַגָּפַיִם, בַּקַּיִץ אֲנִי נוֹעֶלֶת סַנְדָּלִים, וּבַבַּיִת אֲנִי נוֹעֶלֶת נַעֲלֵי בַּיִת.
2. Tomorrow she will go to her friend's wedding and will wear high heels.
2. מָחָר הִיא תִּסַּע לַחֲתוּנָּה שֶׁל הַחֲבֵרָה שֶׁלָּהּ וְתִנְעַל נַעֲלֵי עָקֵב.
3. She will lock the door before she leaves the house.
3. הִיא תִּנְעַל אֶת הַדֶּלֶת לִפְנֵי שֶׁהִיא תֵצֵא מֵהַבַּיִת.
4. Parents must lock cleaning products or other hazardous materials in a cabinet to protect their children.
4. הוֹרִים חַיָּבִים לִנְעוֹל חוֺמְרֵי נִקָּיוֹן אוֹ חוֺמָרִים מְסוּכָּנִים אֲחֵרִים בְּתוֹךְ אָרוֹן כְּדֵי לְהָגֵן עַל יַלְדֵיהֶם.
