To wear
We have many verbs in Hebrew that are equivalent to the English verb 'To wear' because it depends on the item. But in general, with clothes that we put on our bodies, we wear them.
יֵשׁ לָנוּ הַרְבֵּה פְּעָלִים בְּעִבְרִית שֶׁמַּקְבִּילִים לַפֺּעַל בְּאַנְגְּלִית To wear כִּי זֶה תָּלוּי בַּפָּרִיט. אֲבָל בְּדֶרֶךְ כְּלָל בְּגָדִים שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ שָׂמִים עַל הַגּוּף אֲנַחְנוּ לוֹבְשִׁים.
We can wear a shirt, and we can wear an undershirt under the shirt or even an undershirt if it's hot.
אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לִלְבּוֹשׁ חוּלְצָה, וַאֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לִלְבּוֹשׁ גּוּפִיָּה מִתַּחַת לַחוּלְצָה אוֹ סְתָם לִלְבּוֹשׁ גּוּפִיָּה אִם חַם לָנוּ מְאוֹד.
We can wear long or short pants and if we want to work out, we can wear sportswear.
אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לִלְבּוֹשׁ מִכְנָסַיִם אֲרוּכִּים אוֹ קְצָרִים וְאִם אֲנַחְנוּ רוֹצִים לְהִתְעַמֵּל אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לִלְבּוֹשׁ מִכְנְסֵי סְפּוֹרְט.
There are women who like to wear a dress when they are going to an event and there are those who like to wear a dress daily.
יֵשׁ נָשִׁים שֶׁאוֹהֲבוֹת לִלְבּוֹשׁ שִׂמְלָה כְּשֶׁהֵן הוֹלְכוֹת לְאֵירוּעַ וְיֵשׁ כָּאֵלֶּה שֶׁאוֹהֲבוֹת לִלְבּוֹשׁ שִׂמְלָה בְּאוֹפֶן יוֹמְיוֹמִי.
Here are some sentences with the verb 'to wear' at different tenses and different pronouns:
הִנֵּה כַּמָּה מִשְׁפָּטִים עִם הַפֹּעַל 'לִלְבּוֺשׁ' בִּזְמַנִּים שׁוֹנִים וּבְגוּפִים שׁוֹנִים:
1. I bought a new pink dress for the holiday and on the evening of the holiday I will put it on.
1. קָנִיתִי שִׂמְלָה חֲדָשָׁה בְּצֶבַע וָרוֹד לִכְבוֹד הַחַג וּבְעֶרֶב הַחַג אֲנִי אֶלְבַּשׁ אוֹתָהּ.
2. When I go to sleep, I wear pajamas.
2. כְּשֶׁאֲנִי הוֹלֶכֶת לִישׁוֹן אֲנִי לוֹבֶשֶׁת פִּיגָ'מָה.
3. You should wear warm clothes if you go out in the winter, otherwise you will catch a cold.
3. כְּדַאי לָכֶם לִלְבּוֹשׁ בְּגָדִים חַמִּים אִם אַתֶּם יוֹצְאִים מֵהַבַּיִת בַּחוֹרֶף, אַחֶרֶת אַתֶּם עֲלוּלִים לְהִתְקָרֵר.
4. I usually stand in front of my big wardrobe and say: I have nothing to wear!
4. בְּדֶרֶךְ כְּלָל אֲנִי עוֹמֶדֶת מוּל אֲרוֹן הַבְּגָדִים הַגָּדוֹל שֶׁלִּי וְאוֹמֶרֶת: אֵין לִי מָה לִלְבּוֹשׁ!
