As the garlic’s peel
When we use the expression "It's as important to me as the peel of garlic" we mean that it's not important at all. In other words, it's an expression that expresses disrespect.
כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בַּבִּיטּוּי "זֶה חָשׁוּב לִי כִּקְלִיפַּת הַשּׁוּם" אֲנַחְנוּ מִתְכַּוְּנִים שֶׁזֶּה לֹא חָשׁוּב בִּכְלָל. כְּלוֹמַר זֶהוּ בִּיטּוּי שֶׁמְּבַטֵּא זִלְזוּל.
There are different vegetables and fruits whose peels we can do all sorts of things with.
יֵשׁ יְרָקוֹת וּפֵירוֹת שׁוֹנִים שֶׁמִּקְּלִיפָתָם אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לַעֲשׂוֹת כָּל מִינֵי דְּבָרִים.
For example: some people make salad with the cucumber in its peel, some people make candies from orange peels, but garlic peels - no one uses them and throws them in the trash.
לְמָשָׁל: יֵשׁ אֲנָשִׁים שֶׁעוֹשִׂים סָלָט עִם הַמְּלָפְפוֹן בִּקְלִיפָּתוֹ, יֵשׁ אֲנָשִׁים שֶׁעוֹשִׂים סוּכָּרִיּוֹת מִקְּלִיפּוֹת שֶׁל תַּפּוּזִים, אֲבָל בִּקְלִיפּוֹת שֶׁל שׁוּם – אַף אֶחָד לֹא מִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ, וְזוֹרְקִים אוֹתָן לַפַּח.
If there's someone I really don't like to hear, I say: "The things he says are to me like the peel of garlic."
אִם יֵשׁ מִישֶׁהוּ שֶׁאֲנִי מְאוֹד לֹא אוֹהֶבֶת לִשְׁמוֹעַ אֲנִי אֹמַר: "הַדְּבָרִים שֶׁהוּא אוֹמֵר הֵם בְּעֵינַי כִּקְלִיפַּת הַשּׁוּם".
