The fruit of his work
עָמָל = work.
The meaning of this expression is actually the result of work. This expression can be positive or negative.
עָמָל = עֲבוֹדָה.
מַשְׁמָעוּתוֹ שֶׁל הַבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה הוּא בְּעֶצֶם הַתּוֹצָאָה שֶׁל הָעֲבוֹדָה. הַבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה יָכוֹל לִהְיוֹת חִיּוּבִי אוֹ שְׁלִילִי.
For example, if someone worked hard on a certain project and the project was successful.
לְמָשָׁל, אִם מִישֶׁהוּ עָבַד קָשֶׁה עַל פְּרוֹיֶקְט מְסוּיָּם וְהַפְּרוֹיֶקְט הִצְלִיחַ.
We can say: This project is the fruit of his labor, when our intention is to praise hard work that led to success.
אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לוֹמַר: הַפְּרוֹיֶקְט הַזֶּה הוּא פְּרִי עֲמָלוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר הַכַּוָּנָה שֶׁלָּנוּ לְשַׁבֵּחַ עֲבוֹדָה קָשָׁה שֶׁהֵבִיאָה לְהַצְלָחָה.
On the other hand, if there is a bad person who tries to cause conflict between people and because of him people quarrel with each other, we can say that the difficult relations between people are the fruit of that bad person's work.
לְעוּמַּת זֹאת, אִם יֵשׁ אָדָם רַע שֶׁמְּנַסֶּה לְסַכְסֵךְ בֵּין אֲנָשִׁים וּבִגְלָלוֹ אֲנָשִׁים רַבִים זֶה עִם זֶה, נוּכַל לוֹמַר שֶׁהַיָּחָסִים הַקָּשִׁים בֵּין הָאֲנָשִׁים הֵם פְּרִי עֲמָלוֹ שֶׁל אוֹתוֹ אָדָם רַע.
