כְּשֶׁלֶג דְּאֶשְׁתָּקַד

ESHTAKAD = last year.

If it snowed last year, it has already melted and is of no importance.

Therefore, this expression is used when we want to say that something does not interest us or is irrelevant, for example: "His opinion interests me as much as last year's snow."

In fact, in Israel, as you know, there is not much snow. Even on Mount Hermon, there is snow for only a few weeks, so any snow is very, very interesting.

For example: In the village where I live, it snowed heavily 20 years ago, and I still remember it.

Like the snow of last year

אֶשְׁתָּקַד פֵּירוּשׁוֹ = הַשָּׁנָה שֶׁעָבְרָה. אִם יָרַד שֶׁלֶג בַּשָּׁנָה שֶׁעָבְרָה הוּא כְּבָר נָמֵס וְאֵין לוֹ שׁוּם חֲשִׁיבוּת.

לָכֵן הַבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה מְשַׁמֵּשׁ אוֹתָנוּ כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ רוֹצִים לְהַגִּיד שֶׁמַּשֶּׁהוּ לֹא מְעַנְיֵן אוֹתָנוּ אוֹ שֶׁאֵינוֹ רֶלֶוַנְטִי, לְמָשָׁל: "דַּעֲתּוֹ מְעַנְיֶנֶת אוֹתִי כְּשֶׁלֶג דְּאֶשְׁתָּקַד".

לְמַעַן הָאֱמֶת, בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל, כְּפִי שֶׁאַתֶּם יוֹדְעִים, אֵין הַרְבֵּה שֶׁלֶג. אֲפִילּוּ בַּחֶרְמוֹן יֵשׁ שֶׁלֶג לְשָׁבוּעוֹת סְפוּרִים בִּלְבַד, וְלָכֵן כָּל שֶׁלֶג הוּא מְאוֹד מְאוֹד מְעַנְיֵן.

לְמָשָׁל: בַּכְּפָר שֶׁבּוֹ אֲנִי גָּרָה יָרַד שֶׁלֶג כָּבֵד לִפְנֵי 20 שָׁנָה וַאֲנִי עֲדַיִן זוֹכֶרֶת אֶת זֶה.
