To believe
Everyone chooses what to believe in. There are people who cannot believe in something they do not see.
כָּל אֶחָד בּוֹחֵר בְּמָה לְהַאֲמִין.
יֵשׁ אֲנָשִׁים שֶׁלֹּא יְכוֹלִים לְהַאֲמִין לְמַשֶּׁהוּ שֶׁהֵם לֹא רוֹאִים.
But sometimes, even if we see something and decide to believe it, it’s not always true.
אֲבָל לִפְעָמִים גַּם אִם אֲנַחְנוּ רוֹאִים מַשֶּׁהוּ וּמַחֲלִיטִים לְהַאֲמִין לָזֶה, זֶה לֹא תָּמִיד נָכוֹן.
This is very common today in videos shared on social media. Sometimes someone sends a video, and we begin to believe that what we saw in the video actually happened—but in fact, they only sent us part of the video in order to make us believe what they want.
הַדָּבָר נָפוֹץ מְאוֹד הַיּוֹם בַּסִּרְטוֹנִים שֶׁנִּשְׁלָחִים בָּרְשָׁתוֹת הַחֶבְרָתִיּוֹת. לִפְעָמִים מִישֶׁהוּ שׁוֹלֵחַ סִרְטוֹן וַאֲנַחְנוּ מַתְחִילִים לְהַאֲמִין שֶׁמָּה שֶׁרָאִינוּ בַּסִּרְטוֹן אָכֵן קָרָה, אֲבָל בְּעֶצֶם הוּא שָׁלַח לָנוּ רַק חֵלֶק מֵהַסִּרְטוֹן כְּדֵי לִגְרוֹם לָנוּ לְהַאֲמִין בְּמָה שֶׁהוּא רוֹצֶה.
Politicians also tell us things we want to hear in order to persuade us to believe them.
גַּם פּוֹלִיטִיקָאִים אוֹמְרִים לָנוּ דְּבָרִים שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ רוֹצִים לִשְׁמוֹעַ כְּדֵי לְשַׁכְנֵעַ אוֹתָנוּ לְהַאֲמִין לָהֶם.
