The word "remover" (mesir in Hebrew) comes from the root ס.ו.ר, which means to take off or to remove something from its place. For example: "Sur mi-darki"("Turn aside from my way") means move out of my path.
הַמִּילָּה "מֵסִיר" מַגִּיעָה מֵהַשּׁוֹרֶשׁ ס־ו־ר, שֶׁפֵּירוּשׁוֹ לְהוֹרִיד, אוֹ לְהוֹצִיא מַשֶּׁהוּ מִמְּקוֹמוֹ. לְמָשָׁל: "סוּר מִדַּרְכִּי" פֵּירוּשׁוֹ זוּז מֵהַדֶּרֶךְ שֶׁלִּי.
During Hanukkah, we sing: "Sura hoshekh, hal'a shachor, sura mi-pnei ha'or", which means: "Darkness, go away, blackness, depart, move aside for the light", because we know that even a small amount of light can push away a great deal of darkness.
בַּחֲנוּכָּה אֲנַחְנוּ שָׁרִים: "סוּרָה חוֹשֶׁךְ הָלְאָה שְׁחוֹר, סוּרָה מִפְּנֵי הָאוֹר", כִּי אֲנַחְנוּ יוֹדְעִים שֶׁמְּעַט מִן הָאוֹר מֵזִיז הַרְבֵּה מִן הַחוֹשֶׁךְ.
The word "fats" (shumanim in Hebrew) is the plural form of "fat" (shuman), an organic substance found in nature and in the bodies of living beings.
הַמִּילָּה "שׁוּמָּנִים" הִיא צוּרַת הָרַבִּים שֶׁל "שׁ וּמָּן", חוֹמֶר אוֹרְגָּנִי הַנִּמְצָא בַּטֶּבַע וּבְגוּפָם שֶׁל יְצוּרִים חַיִּים.
When we combine the two words, "grease remover" (mesir shumanim) forms a phrase that describes a substance or product designed to remove dirty layers of grease from various surfaces, such as the marble countertop in the kitchen, the oven, or different kitchen utensils.
כַּאֲשֶׁר מְחַבְּרִים אֶת שְׁתֵּי הַמִּילִּים, "מֵסִיר שׁוּמָּנִים" מְקַבְּלִים בִּיטּוּי שֶׁמְּתָאֵר חוֹמֶר אוֹ מוּצָר שֶׁמַּטְּרָתוֹ לְהָסִיר שִׁכְבוֹת שׁוּמָּן מְלוּכְלָכוֹת מִמִּשְׁטָחִים שׁוֹנִים, לְמָשָׁל: הַשַּׁיִשׁ בַּמִּטְבָּח, הַתַּנּוּר אוֹ כְּלֵי מִטְבָּח שׁוֹנִים.

1. I use grease remover not only before Passover. I also use it to remove oil and dirt stuck to all the pots, baking trays, frying pans, and the oven.

3. בְּמַהֲלַךְ הַנִּקָּיוֹן לְפֶסַח בַּמִּטְבָּח אֲנ ִי מַתִּיזָה הַרְבֵּה מֵסִיר שׁוּמָּנִים עַל הַקֶּרָמִיקָה שֶׁעַל הַקִּיר בְּפִינַּת הַכִּירַיִם כִּי תָּמִיד יֵשׁ שָׁם כִּתְמֵי שֶׁמֶן בִּגְלַל הַטִּיגּוּנִים.
4. When using grease remover, it's important to wear gloves to avoid direct contact between the skin and the substance.
