To salute
"To salute" is an action in which one raises an open right hand to the forehead, symbolizing respect.
לְהַצְדִּיעַ זֹאת פְּעוּלָּה שֶׁבָּהּ מְקָרְבִים אֶת כַּף יַד יָמִין פְּתוּחָה אֶל הַמֵּצַח וְהַמַּשְׁמָעוּת שֶׁלָּהּ הִיא הַבָּעַת כָּבוֹד.
A soldier must salute commanders and officers who hold a higher rank than them.
הַחַיָּל צָרִיךְ לְהַצְדִּיעַ לִמְפַקְּדִים וּקְצִינִים בְּדַרְגָּה יוֹתֵר גְּבוֹהָה מִמֶּנּוׄ.
Soldiers and police officers usually salute during Memorial Day ceremonies when the flag is raised to the top of the mast.
הַחַיָּלִים וְהַשּׁוֹטְרִים נוֹהֲגִים לְהַצְדִּיעַ בְּטִקְסֵי יוֹם הַזִּכָּרוֹן כַּאֲשֶׁר מְרִימִים אֶת הַדֶּגֶל לְרֹאשׁ הַתּוֹרֶן.
