To flutter
To be able to use this infinitive, wind is necessary. If there is wind, we can raise the flag to the top of the mast and let it flutter in the wind.
כְּדֵי שֶׁנּוּכַל לְהִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ בְּשֵׁם הַפֹּעַל הַזֶּה אֲנַחְנוּ צְרִיכִים רוּחַ. אִם יֵשׁ רוּחַ אֲנַחְנוּ יְכוֹלִים לְהָרִים אֶת הַדֶּגֶל לְרֹאשׁ הַתּוֹרֶן וְלָתֵת לוֹ לְהִתְנוֹפֵף בָּרוּחַ.
Allowing the flag to flutter in the wind in a particular place is a symbol. It is like saying: "I am the owner of this place."
לָתֵת לַדֶּגֶל לְהִתְנוֹפֵף בָּרוּחַ בְּמָקוֹם מְסוּיָּם זֶה סֵמֶל. זֶה כְּמוֹ לְהַגִּיד: "אֲנִי בַּעַל הַבַּיִת בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה".
As Israel’s Independence Day approaches, we usually put flags on our cars and let them flutter in the wind while driving.
כְּשֶׁמִּתְקָרֵב יוֹם הָעַצְמָאוּת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל אֲנַחְנוּ נוֹהֲגִים לָשִׂים דְּגָלִים עַל הָאוֹטוֹ וְלָתֵת לָהֶם לְהִתְנוֹפֵף בָּרוּחַ בִּזְמַן הַנְּסִיעָה.
Hair can also flutter in the wind. If I have long hair and I don’t tie it up, and there is wind outside, it can flutter in the breeze.
