If I receive a traffic ticket from a police officer, I have the right to oppose it. I need to go to court and explain to the judge why I believe the ticket is unjustified.
אִם קִבַּלְתִּי דּוּחַ תְּנוּעָה מִשּׁוֹטֵר יֵשׁ לִי זְכוּת לְהִתְנַגֵּד. אֲנִי צְרִיכָה לָלֶכֶת לְבֵית הַמִּשְׁפָּט וּלְהַסְבִּיר לַשּׁוֹפֵט מַדּוּעַ אֲנִי חוֹשֶׁבֶת שֶׁהַדּוּחַ אֵינוֹ מוּצְדָּק.
When a new manager arrives at a workplace and wants to implement new procedures or refresh existing ones that are not being followed, employees generally tend to oppose these changes because they are accustomed to working in a certain way. No one likes it when their "cheese is moved."
כְּשֶׁמַּגִּיעַ מְנַהֵל חָדָשׁ לִמְקוֹם עֲבוֹדָה וְרוֹצֶה לְהַפְעִיל נְהָלִים חֲדָשִׁים אוֹ לְרַעֲנֵן נְהָלִים קַיָּמִים שֶׁלֹּא עוֹבְדִים עַל פִּיהֶם, בְּדֶרֶךְ כְּלָל הָעוֹבְדִים נוֹטִים לְהִתְנַגֵּד כִּי הֵם הִתְרַגְּלוּ לַעֲבוֹד בְּצוּרָה מְסוּיֶּמֶת וְאַף אֶחָד לֹא אוֹהֵב שֶׁ"מְזִיזִים אֶת הַגְּבִינָה שֶׁלּוֹ".
In a democracy, we have the right to oppose. When a new law is proposed in the Knesset, there are always those who want to oppose it. Even if it is a good and fair law, they still feel obligated to oppose it due to political considerations.
בְּדֶמוֹקְרַטְיָה יֵשׁ לָנוּ אֶת הַזְּכוּת לְהִתְנַגֵּד. כַּאֲשֶׁר מַצִּיעִים חוֹק חָדָשׁ בַּכְּנֶסֶת, תָּמִיד יֵשׁ כָּאֵלֶּה שֶׁרוֹצִים לְהִתְנַגֵּד לָחוֹק הַזֶּה. אֲפִילּוּ אִם זֶה חוֹק טוֹב וְנָכוֹן, הֵם חַיָּבִים לְהִתְנַגֵּד בִּגְלַל שִׁיקּוּלִים פּוֹלִיטִיִּים.
And my biggest problem—I simply can't oppose cakes or sweets. I know I shouldn't eat them, but I can't resist!
