נָקִי כָּאן כְּמוֹ בְּבֵית מִרְקַחַת
NAKI KAN KMO BE-VET MIRKACHAT
It’s clean here like in a pharmacy
We all recognize the feeling we get when stepping into a pharmacy: the pleasant scent, the spotless cleanliness, the shining surfaces, and the perfectly organized layout.
אֲנַחְנוּ מַכִּירִים אֶת הַתְּחוּשָׁה שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ חָשִׁים כַּאֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ נִכְנָסִים לְבֵית מִרְקַחַת. יֵשׁ רֵיחַ נָעִים, הַכֹּל נָקִי, מְצוּחְצָח, מַבְרִיק וּמְסוּדָּר.
It’s only natural—since a pharmacy is a place that provides medications, we expect nothing less than immaculate cleanliness and order.
זֶה בָּרוּר. בֵּית מִרְקַחַת הוּא מָקוֹם שֶׁמְּסַפֵּק תְּרוּפוֹת וַאֲנַחְנוּ מְצַפִּים לֹא פָּחוֹת מִכָּךְ שֶׁהוּא יִהְיֶה נָקִי וּמְסוּדָּר.
So, we use this expression to describe a place that is exceptionally clean.
אָז אֲנַחְנוּ מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁים בַּבִּיטּוּי הַזֶּה כְּשֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ רוֹצִים לְהַגִּיד שֶׁיֵּשׁ מָקוֹם מְסוּיָּם שֶׁהוּא נָקִי מְאוֹד.
For example, my son’s room is usually messy and cluttered. Sometimes I get frustrated and insist that he cleans it up. When I do, I might say, "I want your room to be as clean as a pharmacy!"
בְּדֶרֶךְ כְּלָל הַחֶדֶר שֶׁל הַבֵּן שֶׁלִּי מְלוּכְלָךְ וּמְבוּלְגָּן. לִפְעָמִים אֲנִי מִתְעַצְבֶּנֶת עָלָיו וְדוֹרֶשֶׁת מִמֶּנּוׄ שֶׁיְּנַקֶּה אֶת הַחֶדֶר אָז אֲנִי אוֹמֶרֶת לוֹ: "אֲנִי רוֹצָה שֶׁהַחֶדֶר שֶׁלָּךְ יִהְיֶה נָקִי כְּמוֹ בֵּית מִרְקַחַת".
