Nut - Nuts
One of the dried fruits that we serve in honor of Tu Bishvat is the walnut.
אֶחָד הַפֵּירוֹת הַיְּבֵשִׁים שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ מַגִּישִׁים לִכְבוֹד טו בִּשְׁבָט הוּא הָאֱגוֹז.
The origin of the word אֱגוֹז is from the Ugric language. It is a word that the Semitic family of languages share and is only used once in the Bible.
מְקוֹר הַמִּילָּה אֱגוֹז הוּא מֵהַשָּׂפָה הַאוּגָּרִית. הִיא מְשׁוּתֶּפֶת לְשָׂפוֹת שֵׁמִיּוֹת וּבַתָּנָ"ךְ הִיא מוֹפִיעָה רַק פַּעַם אַחַת.
The אֱגוֹז grows on a tree. Its shell is very hard and does not open naturally. If you want to eat the fruit of the אֱגוֹז, you need to put in a lot of strength and effort to open the shell. But it is worth the effort.
הָאֱגוֹז גָּדֵל עַל עֵץ. הַקְּלִיפָּה שֶׁלּוֹ קָשָׁה מְאוֹד וְאֵינָהּ נִפְתַּחַת בְּאוֹפֶן טִבְעִי. אִם אַתָּה רוֹצֶה לֶאֱכוֹל אֶת פְּרִי הָאֱגוֹז, אַתָּה צָרִיךְ לְהַשְׁקִיעַ קְצָת כּוֹחַ וּמַאֲמָץ כְּדֵי לִפְתּוֹחַ אֶת הַקְּלִיפָּה. אֲבָל זֶה שָׁוֶה אֶת הַמַּאֲמָץ.
There are many types of nuts, for example: walnuts, hazelnut, macadamia nuts, and all of them contain natural fat and protein and mainly are delicious.
יֵשׁ הֲמוֹן סוּגֵי אֱגוֹזִים לְמָשָׁל: אֱגוֹזֵי מֶלֶךְ, אֱגוֹזֵי לוּז, אֱגוֹזֵי מָקָדֶמְיָה וְכוּלָּם מְכִילִים שׁוּמָּן טִבְעִי וְחֶלְבּוֹנִים וּבְעִיקָּר הֵם טְעִימִים.
