אִמָּא אֲדָמָה

Mother earth
The image of the earth as a mother is called personification. It means giving human qualities to something that is not human.
הַדִּימּוּי שֶׁל הָאֲדָמָה לְאִמָּא נִקְרָא הַאֲנָשָׁה. פֵּירוּשׁוֹ לָתֵת תְּכוּנוֹת אֱנוֹשִׁיּוֹת לְמַשֶּׁהוּ שֶׁאֵינוֹ אֱנוֹשִׁי.
We refer to the earth as a mother because just as a mother grows the baby inside of her and at the end of pregnancy brings the baby out into the world, so does the earth. It grows plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables and brings them out into the world.
אֲנַחְנוּ מִתְיַחֲסִים לָאֲדָמָה כְּמוֹ אֶל אִמָּא, כִּי בְּדִיּוּק כְּמוֹ שֶׁאִמָּא מְגַדֶּלֶת בְּתוֹכָהּ אֶת הַתִּינוֹק, וּבְסוֹף הַהֵרָיוֹן מוֹצִיאָה אֶת הַתִּינוֹק אֶל הָעוֹלָם, כָּךְ גַּם הָאֲדָמָה מְגַדֶּלֶת בְּתוֹכָהּ צְמָחִים, פְּרָחִים, פֵּירוֹת וִירָקוֹת וּמוֹצִיאָה אוֹתָם אֶל הָעוֹלָם.
Just as a mother protects the baby growing inside of her and eats enough to nourish the baby, so do we need to water and care for the earth so that it can bring the plants out into the world.
בְּדִיּוּק כְּמוֹ שֶׁאִמָּא שׁוֹמֶרֶת עַל הַתִּינוֹק הַגָּדֵל בְּתוֹכָהּ, וְאוֹ כֶלֶת מַסְפִּיק כְּדֵי לְהָזִין אֶת הַתִּינוֹק ,כָּךְ גַּם אֲנַחְנוּ צְרִיכִים לְהַשְׁקוֹת וּלְטַפֵּל בָּאֲדָמָה כְּדֵי שֶׁהִיא תּוֹצִיא לָעוֹלָם אֶת הַצּוֹמֵחַ.
And just as a mother nourishes her child: when he is a baby, she breastfeeds him and when he grows up, she prepares food for him, so does the earth give man his food.
וּבְדִיּוּק כְּמוֹ שֶׁאִמָּא מְזִינָה אֶת הַיֶּלֶד שֶׁלָּהּ: כְּשֶׁהוּא תִּינוֹק הִיא מֵנִיקָה אוֹתוֹ וּכְשֶׁהוּא גָּדֵל הִיא מְכִינָה לוֹ אוֹכֶל כָּךְ גַּם הָאֲדָמָה נוֹתֶנֶת לָאָדָם אֶת מְזוֹנוֹ.
