Hamentashen
Hamantaschen are triangular pastries with a sweet filling that we prepare in Purim to mock the memory of Haman, the evil man who wanted to destroy the Jews.
"אוֹזֶן הָמָן" הוּא מַאֲפֶה בְּצוּרַת מְשׁוּלָּשׁ עִם מִילּוּי מָתוֹק שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ מְכִינִים בְּפוּרִים כְּדֵי לְבַזּוֹת אֶת זִכְרוֹ שֶׁל הָמָן הָרָשָׁע שֶׁרָצָה לְהַשְׁמִיד אֶת הַיְּהוּדִים.
The special pastries for Purim were originally called in Yiddish "poppy seed pockets" (in Yiddish: mohn-tash) and from here it was a short step to becoming "Haman-tashen" (Haman's pockets), and in Hebrew, they received the name "Oznei Haman" (Haman's ears).
הָעוּגִיּוֹת הַמְּיוּחָדוֹת לְפוּרִים נִקְרְאוּ בַּמָּקוֹר בְּיִידִישׁ "כִּיסָנֵי פֶּרֶג" (בְּאִידִישׁ: מָאן-טָאשׁ) וּמִכָּאן הָיְתָה קְצָרָה הַדֶּרֶךְ לַהֲפִיכָתָם לְ"הָמָן-טַאשְׁן" (כִּיסָנֵי הָמָן), וּבְעִבְרִית הֵן קִבְּלוּ אֶת הַשֵּׁם "אָזְנֵי הָמָן".
If you want to make Hamantaschen, you need to prepare dough and cut it into circles, i.e. create circular shapes using a cup or any round object.
אִם אַתֶּם רוֹצִים לְהָכִין אָזְנֵי הָמָן" אַתֶּם צְרִיכִים לְהָכִין בָּ צֵק וְלִקְרוֹץ בּוֹ עִיגּוּלִים, כְּלוֹמַר: לַעֲשׂוֹת צוּרוֹת שֶׁל עִיגּוּלִים בְּאֶמְצָעוּת כּוֹס אוֹ כְּלִי עָגוֹל כָּלְשֶׁהוּא.
After that, you need to place a teaspoon of sweet filling in the center of each circle. You can use any filling you like: chocolate, nuts, halva, date spread...
