Anemones - Anemones
We have a well-known annual festival called "Darom Adom" ("Red South"). In this festival, we go on hikes in the southern region to see the enormous carpets (fields) of anemones.
יֵשׁ לָנוּ פֶסְטִיבָל יָדוּעַ בְּכָל שָׁנָה שֶׁנִּקְרָא "דָּרוֹם אָדוֹם". בַּפֶסְטִיבָל הַזֶּה אֲנַחְנוּ יוֹצְאִים לְטִיּוּלִים בְּאֵיזוֹר הַדָּרוֹם כְּדֵי לִרְאוֹת אֶת הַמַּרְבַדִּים (שְׁטִיחִים) הָעֲנָקִיִּים שֶׁל הַכַּלָּנִיּוֹת.
Although the festival is called "Darom Adom," you can find anemones in no fewer than 25 shades, most commonly in white, pink, purple, and blue.
נָכוֹן שֶׁהַפֶסְטִיבָל נִקְרָא "דָּרוֹם אָדוֹם", אֲבָל אֶפְשָׁר לִמְצוֹא כַּלָּנִיּוֹת בְּלֹא פָּחוֹת מִ-25 גְּוָנִים, וַהֲכִי הַרְבֵּה בְּלָבָן, וָרוֹד, סָגוֹל, וְכָחוֹל.
In the south, we primarily find red anemones, while the anemones in other colors are mostly found in the northern parts of the country.
בַּדָּרוֹם אֲנַחְנוּ מוֹצְאִים בָּעִיקָּר כַּלָּנִיּוֹת בְּצֶבַע אָדוֹם, הַכַּלָּנִיּוֹת בַּצְּבָעִים הָאֲחֵרִים נִמְצָאוֹת בְּעִיקָּר בִּצְפוֹן הָאָרֶץ.
The Hebrew name of the anemone ("כלנית" - Kalanit) reflects the beauty of the flower, which adorns itself like a bride ((כַּלָּה.
שְׁמָהּ הָעִבְרִי שֶׁל הַכַּלָּנִית מַצְבִּיעַ עַל יוׄפְיוֹ שֶׁל הַפֶּרַח הַמִּתְקַשֵּׁט כְּמוֹ כַּלָּה.
