The physical meaning of the infinitive "לכתוש" (to crush) is to turn something into small pieces or powder.
פֵּירוּשׁוֹ הַפִיזִי שֶׁל שֵׁם הַפֹּעַל לִכְתּוֹשׁ הוּא לַהֲפוֹךְ לַחֲלָקִים קְטַנִּים אוֹ לְאַבְקָה.
I enjoy using crushed garlic, meaning: when I cook, I like peeling the garlic cloves, then crushing them and adding them to the pot.
אֲנִי אוֹהֶבֶת לְהִשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ בְּשׁוּם כָּתוּשׁ, כְּלוֹמַר: כְּשֶׁאֲנִי מְבַשֶּׁלֶת אֲנִי אוֹהֶבֶת לְקַלֵּף אֶת שִׁינֵּי הַשּׁוּם וְאָז לִכְתּוֹשׁ אוֹתָם וּלְהַכְנִיס לַסִּיר.
In Hebrew, we have the expression "לכתוש עד עפר" (to crush to dust), which means to fight someone until completely defeating them.
יֵשׁ לָנוּ בְּעִבְרִית אֶת הַבִּיטּוּי "לִכְתּוֹשׁ עַד עָפָר" שֶׁמַּשְׁמָעוּתוֹ לְהִלָּחֵם בְּמִישֶׁהוּ עַד שֶׁנְּנַצֵּחַ אוֹתוֹ בְּאוֹפֶן סוֹפִי.
It can refer to physical combat, crushing an enemy to dust—essentially defeating them—or, for example, winning against someone in a knowledge competition or quiz, in which case I could also say: "I managed to crush them."
